The Secret to Becoming a Grand 100 Year Old Lady

This weekend I had the honor of having dinner with one of my favorite Advanced Style ladies. At 100 years old, Rose has a very busy social calendar, so I was delighted to hear that she wanted to meet at one of her favorite restaruants on the Upper East Side. People always ask me what the secret to being vital at an older age is.The answer is that the Advanced Style ladies refuse to give up. They have great attitudes, keep busy, and live their lives to the fullest. Rose admits that being 100 comes with its difficulties, but she'd rather think about her next dinner date or social obligation than worry about getting old. May we all have as much, energy, style and spirit as Rose!!!

Rose looks spectacular! How can she be 100?! A real inspiration to someone like me -- only 65. To think, I have 25 more years to enjoy "stepping out".

And she is wearing a Hermè Collier De Chien belt!
And trousers on top of that!

I never left you a comment before, but this time I really had to, because of her belt and because of her attitude, she made me think that this is the way I want to be at 100.

(BTW, in case you guessed it, I have the same belt and I am a big fan of the Collier De Chien line by Hermès)

Such a nice story. It's awesome, I wish I'll have a busy schedule when I'm older as well. Nice picture. Cheers from Milan.

I have just discovered your wonderful blog. I am 49 and feel I am heading into the next exciting half of my life, however I felt I was at a bit of an in between stage with fashion; was I dressing too young/too old and was looking for new fashion/life inspiration tips. I have been blown away by the fantastic, positive ladies I have had the pleasure to become acquainted with via your blog and they have showed me that fashion is an attitude not just a piece of clothing. I also enjoy reading their health/beauty/life info as well and I am looking forward to purchasing your book, with best wishes from Gail in Australia.

The inner creates the outer, and Rose shows us that inside she is eternally youthful. For every one of my next 39+ birthdays (and all the days in between) I will find something to make me smile like this.

Being vital at an older age must be a much greater challenge than being vital at any age, especially at a younger age. I see people as young as in their early twenties not being very active or even being withdrawn.

I've been wondering if personal style always indicates just how active one is. I mean generally, regardless of age.
