Advanced Style Vintage Submission

I just received this wonderful photo from Holly at, a wondeful vintage clothing site. She writes, It's a found photo that I got in a thrift store easily twenty years ago. I almost cried when I found it. Anyway--here's a link to my favorite stylish and advanced lady. I have her framed in my kitchen and every time I look at her, I think, "That lady has such style!"

Cape and Class

I saw this lady in the West Village and admired how stylish and put together she looked. She added a bit of fun to her outfit by pairing polka dot tights with short boots.

Vintage Style Icon

I recently posted some photos sent in by Leif of his stylish Swedish grandmother and asked if he would send in some more. He wrote me back and attached the pictures above and a little note about his grandmother Olga.

He writes, "Glad you liked the pictures. My grandmother Olga was born 1890 in New Mexico, grew up in Florida and married my Swedish grandfather when only 18. They met in Paris where he romantically proposed on the Eiffel tower. She was most innocent and had no idea how children were conceived. She had 9 children. Her wisdom: Always be kind to other people. Never be afraid of anything. Be original."

Advanced Style Icon: Tziporah Salamon

Although not quite 60, Tziporah Salamon has the makings to be a true Advanced Style Icon.
She must have quite an incredible collection of vintage items because every time I run into her she is dressed impeccably. She's a super cool lady with amazing style and isn't afraid to be creative and playful. Tziporah said in New York Times article, "Fashion has become something to buy, not to create,” she said, wrapping herself in a crimson cashmere shawl and pulling on a pair of black-and-white kid gloves. “Where’s the joy? Where’s the play? Where’s the creativity?”
